The second stop on my Franklin adventure was the Carter House—After visiting the much larger Carnton plantation, I found myself a little disappointed in the Carter House. It was really small and the house looked kind of normal just sitting on the main road. All of the out-buildings seemed staged to me.
But, maybe I should have visited here first. Carnton was much larger and seemed to be in its original state. Everything at Carter seemed to be clumped together and it just didn’t look natural to me.
Carter House does have a wonderful museum inside their gift shop.
