What a beautiful crisp day for a hike. Eleven of us hikers from Murfreesboro joined with the Highland Rim chapter of the Tennessee Trails Association for the annual Chilly Chili Hike at Grundy Forest along the Fiery Gizzard Trail. We hiked the 3 mile Grundy Forest Day Loop which incorporates part of the Fiery Gizzard Trail and along the way we were treated to beautiful views along Gizzard Creek which emptied eventually into three wonderful waterfalls…Black Canyon, Sycamore and Blue Hole.

After the hike we all convened to the beautiful Monteagle home of Jim & Marietta Poteet who served several different kinds of chili and with us each bringing a side dish to share it turned into a wonderful after-hike feast. There were about forty or so people in all and yes, the weather cooperated–as it generally does for a TTA adventure.

Thanks to Jim & Marietta for opening up their home and being wonderful hosts and to all who brought food to share. It was a wonderful day!
