Rainy Days and Saturday’s….that is what we had at Bear Waller Gap. We hiked the first three of the six miles in a steady rain and after stopping to eat, it slowed a bit and then slowed some more and finally stopped.
This was a beautiful hike. The trail meanders around the shore of the Cordell Hull Lake from the Defeated Creek Campground and works its way up some steep hills, and some level walking areas to the Tater Knob end, six miles later.
The mist and fog gave a surreal look to the water and the trail was muddy and slick in parts but all six of us made it just fine. The day was extremely nice (despite the rain) for a Saturday in January so that made the rain a minor irritation but not really a hindrance to our comfort.
Six of us from the Tennessee Trails Murfreesboro Chapter (Sara Pollard, Tammy Day, Nabil Wakid, Mary Belle Ginanni, Roy Duncan and Tony Jones) braved the rain and enjoyed this wonderful hike.

Beautiful pictures on your “old camera” and a lovely write-up. I can’t believe that you were still up at 1:38:01. I maNAGED TO STAY UP UNTIL 10, AND THEN SLEPT LIKE A LOG. i FIGURED i’D HAVE A HARD TIME GETTING OUT OF BED BECAUSE MY (oops) legs had a bigger work-out than usual but my muscles are not even stiff. Thank goodness. Thanks again to you for driving and for your encouragement. I hope you will have a restful day with your parents-if you are awake enough to visit them. love, mb
