Yesterday I went on a hike that was actually a pre-hike for the Tennessee Trails. Shelby Bottoms Green way is an urban park located near downtown Nashville on the east side and joins up with another green way just past Opryland.
The total loop was about 8 miles or so, part concrete and part primitive trail. Two highlights of the day was the Shelby Bottoms Nature Center (a supposed “green” building) with a wonderful very high railroad trestle that runs over it and across the Cumberland River on one end and on the other end a pedestrian bridge that spans the Cumberland River, and goes under Briley Parkway and pops out at the Wave Country where it connects to another green way and keeps going and going and going.
Here are a few pictures, but don’t forget to visit the complete gallery!
